Ministries

For those who found themselves on the wrong side of the law and have found Jesus Christ. http://www.transformed.org.uk/

David Chawner has recently returned from the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand where he was co-manager of the chaplaincy programme and chaplain to England.  It wasn’t all plain sailing, but recognition of the importance of chaplaincy for the teams and their support staff as well as the travelling supporters grew during the tournament.

He was part of Engage which, as an organisation, helped churches to engage in the rugby community in a meaningful way during the World Cup.  The hope was that the value they brought to the event would open opportunities for ministry at future World Cups.  Before leaving New Zealand this hope was realised when the CEO of the 2015 World Cup expressed the desire to work with churches to provide this support when the event is held in England (and Wales).

A meeting will be held early in 2012 to discuss how this might happen.  Because of the links we have already established Baptist Men's Movement will be represented.  So watch this space.

£2 coin
Are you man enough to take the £2 challenge?

BMM wants to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the country’s men – and when they become Christians we want to help them become the men God intended them to be. Will you help us? On the previous pages, BMM’s president Phil Creighton has outlined his desire to see BMM’s ministry expand by having a paid worker. But, he says, “we cannot take this step unless the funding is there”. So we’re asking you if you could pledge to donate £2 a month to BMM every month.

• It’s one less cup of coffee a month … or four Mars bars … or one Sunday paper
£2 is a small amount for many of us – with a cup of coffee from places like Costa and Starbucks costing £2, the Sunday newspaper costing you £2 and four Mars bars setting you back £2, we often spend it without noticing it.

• Your £2 is worth more to us
Your £2 donation is actually, thanks to Gift Aid worth £2.50 to us. Over the course of the year, your monthly £2 donation will become £30. That will make a huge difference to BMM and its work.

• There are 60,000 Baptist men in the UK
If every man in the UK donated £2 a month we could create an organisation that really would create a huge diff erence to the spiritual life of this nation. But to achieve our goal of having a paid worker, we just need 2,500 men willing to stand up and say “I believe men matter and I want to stand with you”.

• Will you stand with us and take the £2 challenge?
Just fill in the downloadable form and return it to us and we’ll do the rest. You can download the standing order form here. It's a PDF file.
We will be adding the option to sign up via PayPal over the next few days, thank you for your patience!

Missionaries' Literature Association (MLA) is a resource for Christian workers overseas.

We live in a rapidly changing world and missionary personnel living abroad can quickly feel out of touch with UK culture, current events and politics, their professions and changing needs in churches.

Magazines and newspapers, on a regular basis, help to bridge the gap and keep them up to speed professionally and culturally, as well as giving a feeling of being closer to home.

MLA is run by volunteers and relies on your donations to ensure it can continue to post magazines out to missionaires.

Operation AgriOperation Agri (OA) is the overseas development arm of the Baptist Men's Movement. It is a charity which supports rural and urban development projects in four continents, attacking the basic causes of poverty amongst some of the least fortunate people in the world.

OA supports sustainable development work such as agricultural centres that train farmers to produce better crops, and irrigation schemes for rural communities.

OA provides essential equipment and resources for missionaries and development workers including 4WD vehicles, and equipment for training workshops.

OA helps vulnerable people regardless of religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds including helping women's community groups in Nepal to run local savings and credit schemes.

OA shows the love of jesus in action by supporting local Christian workers to make a difference in their communities.

Further information about the work of Operation Agri can be found on the
OA website.
